Themed Special Event: Clouds
A day about clouds and the art of measuring clouds. Come and listen to researchers describe how cloud research has developed from the 19th century until today. How is cloud classified and how many types of cloud are there? Lectures are in Swedish, and guided tours of the exhibition Measuring Clouds are in both Swedish and English. There is a cloud workshop in the Vault for visitors of all ages.

Springtime the Orangery
Visit the the early 19th century Orangery in the Botanical garden and see plants from the Mediterranean, Australia, South America and other warm places. When springtime sunrays reach citruses, apricots and cacti, they blossom. Extended opening hours in the Orangery during weekends in March.

Volunteer in Linnaeus' meadows
Help us to tidy up Carl Linnaeus' meadows efter the winter. We clear the meadows from branches, rake them, light fires and learn more about 18th century farming. There are hot dogs and soft drinks for all helpers. Don't miss out on a great opportunity to experience Swedish spring in a vibrant historical environment!

A Linnaean Garden Party
Time travel to the 18th century, hear the rustle of silk skirts, see silver shoe buckles glisten, and sample artisan foods. Find rare plants and seeds for your garden and pick up advice on how to grow them. Learn more about Linnaeus. Meet scientists, experiment, and learn more about Linnaean science. Guided tour in English at 11.30 and 14.30.

Haymaking at Hammarby
Learn how to use a scythe and a rake. Listen to music and stories as you work. Buy old varieties of vegetables from the garden.

Victoria in blossom
An opportunity to see the flower of the giant water lily, Victoria amazonica, and the pithaya in blossom. They open out at dusk, but not every night. Updates (in Swedish) on Facebook.

Harvest Fair at Hammarby
Harvest and fair at Carl Linnaeus' country estate. Trade stands with skins, craft, cheese, bread and vegetables from local producers. Try your hand at rye harvesting. The children can try on 18th century clothes and play old fashioned games.

Hops, Oats and Barley
It is harvest time at Carl Linnaeus' country estate! We harvest hops, oats and barley in the restored farmland surrounding Linnaeus' country house. Learn about old varieties of hops, and beer brewing. Gather hops to put in a sleeping pouch - a traditional remedy for better sleep. Tie a nek of oats and bring it home.

Did you know that over 200 varieties of apples are grown in Sweden? Get to know a good quarter of them at the apple exhibition att Linnaeus' Hammarby. Find out which apples you have in your garden. There will be a professional juicer if you want to bring your own apples and make "äppelmust" (not to be confused with "julmust").

Harvest at Linnaeus' Hammarby
Come and volunteer att Linnaeus' Hammarby! It is time to harvest the last vegetables and to prepare the forest meadows for winter by raking them and collecting and burning branches. Work side by side with experts on agrarian history and learn about 18th century farming. All helpers will be rewarded with hot dogs and soft drinks.
