Uppsala University celebrates its 540th anniversary with a grand re-opening of the University Main Building and the newly renovated Grand Auditorium, an open day and an anniversary concert. The celebrations span two days.
Free admission – open to all.
Celebrations in the Grand Auditorium, 6 October, 16:00–17:15:

Director-General Birgitta Böhlin, National Property Board of Sweden, hands over the University Main Building after its renovation to the Vice-Chancellor.
Music performed by choir Allmänna Sången, the Royal Academic Orchestra and soloists Alexandra Büchel, soprano, and Fredrik Zetterström, baritone.
Vice-Chancellor Eva Åkesson announces the recipient of the 2017 Alumnus of the Year award.
Lecture on the University Main Building’s first 130 years: From idealistic national monument to academic arena (given in Swedish). Carl Frängsmyr, University Historian and Reader of History of Science and Ideas.

The faculty halls and the Coin Cabinet are open to the public with knowledgeable staff on hand.
