This is the first meeting of a series of events at Uppsala University organized by the Human Diversity Network. The network consists of four institutions: Department of Organismal Biology, Department of Archaeology and Ancient History, Centre for Gender Research, and Department of Linguistics and Philology.
Our guest keynote lecturer is Professor Colin Renfrew, University of Cambridge, McDonald Institute for Archaeological Research. Professor Renfrew is an archaeologist working cross-disciplinary known for groundbreaking views on the prehistory of languages, archaeogenetics, radiocarbon dating, and the prevention of looting at archaeological sites (https://www.arch.cam.ac.uk/directory/acr10).
Carina Schlebusch and Torsten Günther are population geneticists at Uppsala University and will present recent research on modern and ancient human populations in Africa (https://iamanafricansite.wordpress.com/) and in Europe (https://tgnthr.wordpress.com/).
