Fiscal policies for gender equality: empirical evidences
The Thursday seminars are held between 13.15 and 15.00 at the Centre for Gender Research (Villavägen 6, Uppsala). The Thursday seminars bring together several different research areas; men/masculinities, body/corporeality, queer theory, and science are only some of the themes that reflect the breadth of research conducted at the Centre.
Budget is often thought of as gender-neutral. But fiscal policies impact men and women differently due to the socio-economic asymmetries. Public policies have not paid adequate attention to unveil the statistical invisibility of unpaid "care economy". Focusing on the measurement issues and macroeconomic policy tools, this lecture lays out the issues and perspectives how to integrate 'gender lens' in the fiscal policy, with empirical evidences across globe.
