Switzerland - Beginners Skitour

Uppsala University Switzerland Alumni Chapter (UUSAC) invited alumni and friends to a beginners skitour to Wissmeilen (Flumserberg) on 23 Februari.

Transport: We will take the S2 to Unterterzen 07:47 track 32 arriving 08:58. We meet in the 2nd class wagon furthest away from HB. Persons going by car may meet up at Tannenboden.
Equipment: Backpack with sun protection, water, snacks, money for coffee. Skitour equipment: poles, tourenskis with skins, Avalance equipment probe, shovel, avalanche transceiver (LVS). The Skitour equipment can be rented at Intersport Tannenboden (Flumserberg).
Renting & costs: Best would be for you to rent at Intersport Tannenboden, doing it online days before will save you 10% rendering a price of CHF46.80 for touring skis, CHF19.80 for touring boots (see link below to rental site). Other places to rent are Ruedi-Bergsport, Bächli Bergsport.
You need to rent skis, boots and LVS Security Set. When we get the skis you can also rent LVS Security Set for CHF14.40. Helm is voluntary, you may perhaps bring a bike helmet if you want.
We will buy a Panüöl ski touring lift ticket for CHF62.40. Note: with GA & Halbtax there will be a reduced price to CHF48.
Description of tour: This tour is intended for beginners in skitouring. The participants should be able skiers who perhaps at times have ventured outside the pist. It is a beautiful tour, it is not very strenuous, where we will also go through the basics on skitouring such as equipment, particular moves (Spitzkehre) and route strategies.
We will start out from Leist and make our way up the peak of Wissmeilen (2481m). On the way back we will make a stop at Fursch for refreshments. We return to Unterterzen.
